Poem -Sunrise At The Marae

Sunrise At The Marae

Te Ra rises

and says, “I'm here, get up everyone!”  

to the marae

tangata whenua and manuhiri

wake up

and look outside

te Ra was so bright

like tahepuia in the night

the marae looks out over

Te Wai Pounamu

te Ra lights up the painted sea  

Karaka and whero.
